What savings can I expect to make?
You should see savings of 60% to 75% on your annual hot water heating bills – with wholesale energy prices increasing as they are at present our system makes even more sense.
Do I need planning permission?
Generally no. In England, changes to permitted development rights for renewable technologies introduced on 6th April 2008 have lifted the requirements for planning
permission for most microgeneration technologies. If you live in a listed building or are in a conservation area, you should always consult your local planning officer.
Will my panels work in winter or on a cloudy day?
Yes. Solar panels rely on the sun’s radiation (not direct sunlight) to produce heat – but obviously the longer and brighter the day the more solar gain you will get.
Is my roof suitable for solar panels?
In most cases yes. This will be determined at the survey stage – south facing is ideal but east and west will also work.
