Solar PV

Beware of fixed priced systems!

Fitting solar PV is not one size fits all. We can provide guides as to cost but depending on your specific requirements, shape and pitch of your roof, a smaller or larger system may make more economic sense. Everything is explained to you in whatever level of detail you require to ensure you understand our recommendations.

Inverters

The inverter is the device that converts the DC current produced by the solar panels into the AC current used in your home. The choice of inverter affects how much electricity you can produce. Basically, the cheaper the inverter, the less electricity you can produce. For example , a string inverter may be more cost effective in terms of installation but it treats all panels as one big panel by connecting them all in a serial arrangement. This means the system is only as good as it’s weakest link. If you have one under performing solar panel, it affects the whole system.

Other types of inverter include micro inverters which provides an inverter for each panel so they work independently and do not affect each other. A main, central inverter in this set up is not required. These systems create:

Higher average electricity output
Greater reliability

Somewhere between the two options would be Power Optimisers. These still use a main inverter to convert the DC current from the solar panels to AC current, but they are located under each panel allowing each panel to work independently, again so they do not affect eachother.

These alternatives require a higher initial investment but last longer and produce more electricity.

Our professional installers / site surveyors can advise which system is best for you.

What next?

Get in touch with us and we will initially provide a remote pseudo-survey. We are able to locate your roof using online tools and taking into account it’s size and orientation, provide an idea of what we feel would be the most effective solar panel solution for your roof and power requirements.

If this is acceptable to you, the next stage is a site visit to ensure everything has been taken into account including your electrics and to of course meet you in person. We can also provide an EPC if required as pat of the service.

Solar Thermal by Solar Power GB

You may have become a little more conscious about turning on your hot water heating as you hear more about the effect on the environment and the rising cost of fuel.

Whilst being more economic with your heating use is one thing, improving your conventional heating system will go much further in saving you money and the planet.

Solar thermal uses the free and renewable energy of the sun to heat your water. A solar thermal system cannot fully replace your boiler or immersion heater, but it drastically reduces their use – by at least 65% according to some manufacturers.

Solar Panel Cleaning by Solar Power GB

You could clean your panels yourself however, is your investment not worth professional maintenance to ensure your solar PV or solar thermal system continues to operate at it’s optimum level of efficiency?

We do not just clean your panels, we use specialist equipment and the purest water to ensure they are returned to near factory condition if cleaned regularly.

Using professionals to clean your panels may just save you some aggravation in the future and it will ensure your panels produce as much electricity as they can. We may also identify issues the untrained eye would miss.
